Due to this belief, we are the only local removal company to have invested in a training centre, where we are able to train all the disciplines required for a modern removal company capable of moving anything, from the most delicate of museum exhibits to a 67.5 to Challenger Armoured Recovery Vehicle.

Our employee Sean, who started work at Specialised Movers as an HGV driver, is now our NEBOSH Qualified Health and Safety Manager and in-house instructor. He’s also very proud to be the regional instructor for the British Association of Removers (BAR). Our training centre is used to train removal staff from other companies from as far south as Leicester and as far north as Newcastle. So even if you choose another removal company for your move it is likely that Specialised Movers will be involved in a small way!
In the past Sean was a member of a mountain rescue team based at RAF Leeming, which was where he developed a fascination and deep seated interest in First Aid which continues to this day. We train our staff in all levels of First Aid from basic life support, through to airway management and the control of catastrophic bleeding. We also ensure that all our team leaders are qualified as first aiders completing the 3-day first aid at work course. The remainder of our staff are trained in basic first aid skills. All our staff are trained to Level 3 First Aid, Level 2 Fire Safety, level 2 Manual Handling and Level 3 Health and Safety, with regular refreshers. We’re aware that staff often work remotely from our sites, sometimes without supervision, and need to be self-sufficient in the event of an emergency. This is why we consider the training is so important.

Sean is qualified as an instructor for the RTITB and can operate and instruct upon a wide range of mechanical materials handling equipment. This enables him to train our staff (and those of other companies) in the safe use of this equipment. The fact that we train all our staff to such a high operational and safety standard ensures that our customers can have confidence in every move we carry out.
Sean also has worked closely with Mercedes Benz as a driver trainer honing his skills to allow him to train our staff to be able to drive HGVs safely. We routinely train our porters to become van drivers, our van drivers to drive HGVs and our HGV drivers to operate our vehicle mounted crane.
